| Cleaning and drying |
|
Once you have successfully separated the stamp from its backing paper, rinse it in clean water to further remove any traces of glue or dirt. Care should be observed in handling the already-weakened stamp when rinsing it. When you are pleased with the result, place the stamp, face down, on a clean tray or dry blotting paper and let it dry. The printed face might stick to
the tray or blotting paper, so you should move the stamp repeatedly to counter this possibility. |

You might find that your stamps will probably curl at the edges while drying out. This can be easily corrected by placing the stamp between 2 heavier and flat objects to straighten them out. These stamps can either be carefully pressed flat under a weight (like a flat-base paperweight) when they are relatively dry, or compressed between the pages of a stock-book. Wait a few hours, or even a day, for the stamp to straighten out finely and voila! You will then have your desired stamp in great condition for keeps! |
